Please look at other options to increase City revenue- NOT retail marijuana or marijuana grows! Why? $4.52 in cost to the community for every $1.00 in revenue. Costs include drains on police from DUIs and drug overdoses (common with edibles), health costs (skyrocketing ER visits, astronomical addiction and side effect treatment costs in the $100,000-$300,000 range, and human costs, such as overdose deaths, traffic accidents, increased high school and college dropout rates, 8-point impaired IQ and memory problems for teens, and decreased employment rates.
Remember retail marijuana was voted down previously and many Lakewood voters are opposed! With edibles sold in retail shops, side effects such as rapid heart rate (arrhythmias) and nausea occur 6-8 hours later and have been lethal in many cases!
Environmental costs Include huge drains on electricity and water required for cultivation and the gutting of homes. Thank you for voting against retail marijuana and marijuana cultivation in Lakewood!
