As a member of the neighborhood surrounding Vivian Elementary, I am curious to know what we Lakewood taxpayers can do to have meaningful input on what will be done with the facility. Having a community art center such as the one at Washington Heights (also a former school) with an adjacent sport/field area would be the perfect roll model for Vivian. It could be a wonderful resource for Lakewood and could also provide jobs and income for residents and the city while also preserving the field/ sporting area.

Having Vivian as a school and the space it provided was a big part of why we purchased in the neighborhood several years back. We were sad that it closed and that our son has to attend elsewhere but we have still been enjoying the playground and open space. We hope thst consideration can be given to making the property something that all the neighbors can use and celebrate!

We would like to once again express frustration with the city of Lakewood and the desire as tax payers to have Vivian be turned into an updated park, garden and open space so our community can continue to enjoy it. We do not have any close by parks and this is the last large space available in our district to have for our families. I'm a mother to a almost two year old and we have a Golden Retriever pup, we use this space all the time, we have met neighbors through this space. It's important for our community. We pay a lot in taxes and they only keep going up. Please use some of this money to actually benefit our community.
Sincerely the Goldman family.

Is there any update on the city of Lakewood's interest in the purchase of the land available for sale at Vivian Elementary School? Our community members are very concerned and interested in what happens to this property, as evidenced by frequent use of this forum, direct contact with Council Members, and attendance at City Council meetings. There remains a strong desire to dedicate at least a substantial part of this land as an open space, if not its entirety.
